When you live with dragons
There's a roundness to loss,
A completeness

It's waiting,
everywhere you go
everything you do,

every movement slowed
as you wait
for the rush of wings

cold and sharp
as hope
and just as fleeting.

That's the thing with dragons,
you're their natural prey,
and they're patient
