Goldilock's Jewel

This was originally called Blue-Green World, but as that currently has political connotations, I decided to change the name to Goldilock's Jewel.

Goldilock's Jewel

There's a blue-green pearl
dancing through
the darkest night
lit by
distant stars, and
whirling in the
tight embrace of the sun.

Its lustre
a blanket
barely 300 miles thick
stands between us
the dark of night
and the tight embrace
of the sun.

Worth celebrating the world today, because why not. How can we look after it, if we can't appreciate it?

There's a Star Man - Goodbye David Bowie

You have to hand it to Ziggy
he had those spiders,
what rock star doesn't?

But Major Tom
and his shirts,
there's nothing we could do

But dance,
dance the night away
whirled along
by the silver haired
silver tongued
fey
the one and only David Bowie

You decided
what kind of magic spell to use
no one needed the crystal
the power was in you
to turn the world

If we can sparkle he may land tonight

So come on
let's dance,
dance the blues away

The moonlight a puddle of silver
reflecting
the angel
on the dance floor

Goodbye David Bowie, ashes to funky, you were the lord of the dance floor, and greatly missed - although you work lives on....

Sad news, but an amazing life, and a legacy that will not be forgotten -

Invitation to The Party

I have nothing to bring to this party
these arms were not made for
holding, handing, helping

I have nothing to bring to this party
this silk was not made for
donning, dressing, draping,

I have nothing to bring to this party
except glittering jewels on velvet night
and they are not so much some giddy gift as a warning

Not so much glittering night, but gorgeously close on emerald green, image curtesy of http://www.pdphoto.org

have a happy healthy and productive week everyone

cheers,
A.J.

Time Wyrm

         Wyrm                                                                    the Universe
A         in Time,                                             Brilliance of              all
                       through Space,                     the true                              around
                                 splitting the milky Stars
                                                  and Revealing

there's a crack in Amelia's computer screen
and insistent
that I should write a poem
I complied

After all, Amelias'
lose their mothers'
to forgetfulness
far too easily.

So, should sudden sulks and sullen
teenage tantrums
tear darkness through
and through

cast your eyes to the
starless wyrm
of starry space
and remember this
